A fine example of a view of The Grand Canal Venice & The Bridge of Sighs,produced by Raphael Tuck in the form of a Chromo-lithograph.
The company were well known and produced some of the first Christmas cards.
The actual lithograph is of a very fine quality and is almost indistinguishable from a genuine watercolour
The particular scene of Venice is a copy of the famous example painted in watercolours by the reknown and famous artist J.M.W.Turner R.A.
The original of this particular picture is on display in the South Kensington Gallery in London.
The frame and glass are both original from 1850-80
There has been careful remounting with a new border and the back has been resealed with card backing andgum tape.
"The condition is perfect" with absolutely no discolouration or fading being seen.
The history of this picture is that it had hung in Blaby Hall in Leicestershire as far back as 1900.
The Hall was owned from the 1950-2000 by the owner of The Premier Drum Company.
The director gave the picture as a gift to a loyal employee of 40 plus years service.
The Measurements are actual 14.5 Inches x 19 3/4 Inches.
The overall size to include the frame is 30 Inches x 24 Inches.
The frame is decorative and is of plaster gilt construction,being 1.25 Inches in depth.
