A very large and impressive historical portrait of a WW1 British army officer,finished in generously applied oils onto canvas,seen posing for the artist in a relaxed manner,proudly wearing his full uniform with hands clasped gently together.
The sitter is presently unknown with details unfortunately overpainted on the rear of the canvas,but the cap badge has been identified as that of the Cheshire Regiment (pre 1922).
Clearly signed by the artist identified as‘Withers-Lee’ and dated 1921 in the lower left corner.
Presented behind glass in the original beautifully gilded decorative frame.
CONDITION:
Fairly good condition with just two little areas of paint flake lifting commensurate with age.

Re-gilded and now in lovely condition after good refurbishment.
