Description
A superb quality early 19th Century oil on canvas portrait of a Vatican Cardinal in red robe wearing a large Crucifix.The painting is in very clean and overall good condition.The frame is stunning and has been exceptionally well hand carved and decorated with an elaborate foliate scroll leaf design finished in gold leaf.The frame itself is a very valuable example of craftsmanship at its best.
The Measurements for the canvas area are 23 Inches x 20 Inches.
The Measurements with the frame included are 32 Inches x 35 Inches overall and the frame has a 6 1/2 Inches Depth bordering the canvas.
The Condition is well above average, being clean with a rich vibrant red glow in the colours, with no obvious crackling in the oils.There is a minute blemish seen top left ,which is hardly visable.
