This beautiful rare and sought after ' original Pears ' antique print is Titled ''Bubbles ' and is housed in an original late Victorian gilded decorative frame.

The subject was originally painted by the talented artist John Everett Millais, and was given away with the 1897 Pears annual. Its housed in a lovely giltwood frame which greatly enhances the appearance

'Bubbles' was painted in 1885-6 and shows a boy blowing bubbles with a pipe and a bowl of soap suds. The boy was the artist’s grandson, Willie James, aged about four.
The young boy grew up and in later life became an Admiral.

To get around the problems of painting the bubbles, the artist had a glass sphere specially manufactured. Millais originally titled his painting 'A Child’s World' but it was later changed to 'Bubbles'.

These early full size prints on thick card are fairly rare to find as originals and today many modern copies are around reprinted in much smaller format.

This is a genuine early example from around 1886 and bears the makers mark lower bottom right corner.

Condition:
This print is in fair condition for 1886-1900 we'll preserved under glass with one or two scratches around Bubble and with some minor scuffs hardly noticeable.Looks respectable and ready to hang.

Frame
The Victorian Frame looks very respectable after being regilded in the past and only has slight wear and a little distress / no losses.Recently remounted on new back board and reseated.
