Description
This is a still life of flowers by Dutch artist E.Vanderman,beautifully painted in the distinctive style of the dutch painters.The oil painting is signed quite visably in the bottom right hand corner and is underlined.There is no date visable although the piece is of the Victorian era and could be dated somewhere between 1890-1900.
The frame is not original and was replaced back in 1975,at the time it was shipped back from New York.When packed for air freight it was seemingly removed to save on shipping costs or it may have been rolled up.
Condition is good,as there are no tears or repairs.The painting might have been wax relined and is definately on a new stretcher frame.The turned edge of the canvas is nailed down a fresh and you can see it is very old.
The painting Measures 28 1/2 Inches x 24 1/2 Inches.
Some years ago Phillips,now Bonhams in Market Harborough said the painting was by one of two brothers both with the same sir name,who were listed in the Benzies European Art Guide.
