A QUALITY HUGE SCALE OIL ON CANVAS BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED DEPICTING AN ELDERLY MAN STOPPING TO WATER HIS TWO THIRSTY HORSES PULLING A CANVAS TOP HAY CART This is an interesting and colourful painting full of character and charm. Note the horses attention being captured as they glance towards the reward they are about to receive. There are two small thatched collages in the distance and colourful trees and foliage behind a stone block wall. The artist has monogramed his initials in the bottom right hand corner, signing W.H. The painting is also dated 1928. CONDITION The painting is in excellent condition throughout. Past professional reline with light clean by restorers. FRAMED MEASUREMENTS Width 51 Inches ( 130 cm ) OR 4 ft. 3" Height 40 Inches ( 102 cm ) OR 3 ft. 4" I was very excited to be able to acquire this painting, and debated for quite a while about keeping it for myself. A very unique painting in a class of its own showing rural village life. Research continues to properly identify the artist who might be Irish. This example is now 97 years old and yet looks as good as the day it was first painted, due to past professional conservation work.
