Indeed, he titled this particular work ''Christmas Day, 1857''. - The example on offer was painted during the 1930s by a follower of the artist. - Artist John Ritchie (1857 - 1875) was a genre painter who exhibited at the RA and elsewhere. Usually his scenes were imaginary and used 16 / 17th C costumes in a panoramic style.
